The movie "Bridesmaids" starring Kristin Wiig is a somewhat raunchy comedy starting out with her and John Hamm having some fun casual sex. The surprise of the movie for me (and in case you were wondering) as I sat in a Milwaukee movie theater watching is that the film showed some interesting shots of downtown Milwaukee and the Harley Davidson Museum. Kristin's character lives in Milwaukee and her best friend Maya Rudolph is moving to Chicago from the Milwaukee area. There are also some great lake shots and downtown views of Chicago in the movie.
The Bridemaids exterior shots were filmed in Milwaukee and Chicago, and star Kristin Wiig lives in an apartment on KK Avenue in Bayview.
Now critics are giving this movie an outstanding review and while it certainly was funny it wasn't the best movie I have ever seen. It does entertain and has it's comical moments but it is a chick flick as well. Kristin's character is down on her luck with her job, in relationships and her friendship is going down hill. All this happens as her best friend is getting married and she feels the need to complete with another bridesmaid for her friends attention.
At time Kristin does give a very small hint of her character Gilly on Saturday night live. But she certainly is funny and makes you forget her SNL stint. Melissa McCarthy (Mike and Molly) and John Hamm are some of the most humorous stars in the move. While some of the reviewers say that this is one of the best comedies of 2011 I would have to say it is average and there might be some more enjoyable movies to go and see during the summer months. In this movie viewers opinion it is worth going to see this movie if you want to escape with some good laughs. My grade is about a B- or 3 out of 5 stars.
