Julie Powell decided to write a blog a few years ago about cooking. It was based on the fact that she would try to make meals for 365 days from Julia Child's Cookbook. Her blog was so successful that is is now a movie being released on August 7, 2009.
Julie states on her blog "From dead-end secretarial job to a 110-pound dog and a job writing in my pajamas... this is the story of Julie" http://juliepowell.blogspot.com/
Julie & Julia, the bestselling memoir that's "irresistible....A kind of Bridget Jones meets The French Chef" (Philadelphia Inquirer), is now a major motion picture. Julie Powell, nearing thirty and trapped in a dead-end secretarial job, resolves to reclaim her life by cooking in the span of a single year, every one of the 524 recipes in Julia Child's legendary Mastering the Art of French Cooking. Her unexpected reward: not just a newfound respect for calves' livers and aspic, but a new life-lived with gusto. The film version is written and directed by Nora Ephron and stars Amy Adams as Julie and Meryl Streep as Julia. The original blog can be read here...
This should give us bloggers hope that there are people reading our blogs and if you have the right market and readers coming to your blog you may just end up with a book and or movie deal yourself. Whether or not your goal is to inform others or just enjoy writing on a daily basis blogging can be a fun and useful tool to get the word out about your area of expertise.
